Yay, it’s the annual Pesta Blogger, and I was there. Finally after skipping two rounds. Here’s a brief event report.

Half past ten am. Arrived just right in time for the opening session. Goodie bag filled with merch stuffs: bag, t-shirt, pin, mouse pad (first thought it’s a coaster for coffee mugs, might as well be.), sticker.

Most as in hundreds already taken their seats and more outside, buzzing around. MCs introducing guests of honor one by one, as an animation intro playing on the screen, along with footages of Blogshop touring.

Pandji Pragiwaksono gave a good performance on behalf of IndonesiaUnite.

Coin a Change, local charity project, won 10 mills jackpot. Sort of poetic.

Lunch break, more incomings. It was reported that around 1200 bloggers attended in total. Lots of familiar faces, knowing glances. I was like in a, oh c’mere, gimme a big hug, sort of mood and went all sentimental.

Cardboard hero of the day: Obama. Then there was Storm Trooper.

Oh oh, Jedi light sabre!

There was an impromptu jam session right outside the main room, one acoustic guitarist and a lady singer. If there should be an award for The Nicest Part That Got Blogged During Blogging Events, that would be it.

Introduced myself to bloggers from Batagor community, which I thought was from Bogor. Batagor. Bogor. Said it over and over again, think I might’ve annoyed them. Turned out they were from Bandung. Lovely folks, the light sabre have intertwined us in fate.

Meet up with Global Voices editors, Preetam Rai, Rezwan and Chip from Vietnam. Been an honor. They were speaking for Citizen Journalism session next floor. Chip is like a girl coming straight out of a comic book! I’ll be talking to her soon.

Met some old friends, it was like a standing party (or somewhat cross-legged) with the how-you’ve-beens. Didn’t get the chance to chat with those I bumped to though, next time hopefully.

Joined in for Online Activism session, brought to you by Acer, with Nova Riyanti Yusuf, Raditya Dika and Enda Nasution as speakers. None are activists, some are among the audience, to-be ones. To summarize, the focus is on passion for a cause. There will always be conflicting ideas, along as influential, aspiring ones: Consequential balance with responsible limits. Looking at how a politician, novel writer, and a new media professional encouraging it, however, tells a lot that activism is more of a mindset, rather than a weapon of choice.

Regrouped afterwards, taken snapshots.

Did hope several bloggers attended the event, they were greatly missed..

Thanking all mentioned above, great meetup and well done!
