I have never wept over an election but I did this time.
Your “blurb” is very right on. If there could ermerge in Indonesia a figure like Obama that would be something! I hope one day it happens. I NEVER thought I would live to see it happen in the United States.
Smoochies!!!
Yeay! Lots of us shed tears, I guess! Not sure if it’s tears of joy or sheer jealousy though.
Politics aside, Obama does symbolize the spirit of hope. After 9/11, things will never be the same, both for Americans also for us here in Indonesia. America is surely ready to move on now, how about Indonesia?
nah..don’t think we’ll be ready to move on until us army pull out from iraq year 2011. obama and his victory, if it changes anything, it shows that americans want CHANGE and put a stop to this nonsensical war as much as indonesians, well..some of us. local politicians closely tied to the republicans and gain profit from breaking indonesia apart would have a different viewpoint of course.
Not sure how exactly that interconnects but I do agree that politicians related to and relying on religious fundamentalism, any Semitic religion that may be, inevitably would have a different viewpoint in democracy. If Indonesia should break apart, then both the people and govt of Indonesia should evaluate itself before pointing the finger at others. Why allow it to happen? And how?
It’s quite dangerous to expect too much from his administration knowing that people here tend to romanticize his pastime living in Indonesia; but as citizens of the world that we are, I’ll congratulate the new president! Hip hip hooray!!! God bless!
Euphoria for political victories, we don’t see that a lot in here! Lol. However, for next year’s race, it’s possible that there’d be a similar built-up for Sultan Hamengku Buwono X.
True. It’s dangerous for Indonesia to expect much from others without having the expectation first for itself, but I reckon the present govt is fully aware of that. As for the people, it’s always a good thing to see Indonesians cheer and applaud for the wellness of others instead of sneering at it all the time. And as usual, we simply need a good reason to parteh.
PS: Left a buzz.
Whoa, everyone is talking bout him on the blog-world! Hopefully he will be able to fulfill everyone’s expectations, and keep his promise of change!
Ah, forgive me for I have sinned. Can’t help it, atri. The hype is too strong.
Yes! (Hopefully) he can! Amen.
By the way all, check this out. Obie’s on fiyah.
