UFO Sighting in Surabaya, East Java. Not.

Last Friday, Detik.com reported an UFO sighting in Surabaya, East Java on July 24th, the night before. The then-unidentified flying object which was displaying an orchestra of colorful lights had been captured on video by Rizqinofa Putra, web developer and an aspiring citizen journalist, so to speak. He then posted his discovery at YouTube and sent it forward to Detik.com editorial desk. Later on, the Juanda Naval Base (Pangkalan TNI AL) located nearby responded, Col. Trikora Hardjo (Lanudal Commandant) claimed that he has monitored the region and was unable to detect any suspicious flying objects, however, he advised the residents to “stay calm”.

East Java province itself has experienced significant numbers of sightings believed to be UFOs hovering on its sky, witnessed by residents in Pantai Kenjeran, Porong, Malang, Tulungagung, and Bandar Udara Juanda. The series of events encouraged locals to establish Beta UFO, a local community for UFO-related research and documentary of UFO sightings in East Java and throughout the country.

Consequently, news on Juanda’s UFO sighting has made quite a buzz in the local internet sphere, at least until several readers hypothesized a theory on the sighting and managed to identify the alien spacecraft in question. It was actually a GoFlyKite remote-controlled kite roaming the sky at night. GoFlyKite is a technologically advanced kite invented by Singapore’s Michael Lim, supplied with electronic rotor and LED lamps, hence generating rainbow of decorative lights clearly visible at night. Rizqinofa later made further statements in public, confirming the object as an IFO (Identified Flying Object) and the object happened to be a kite.

The truth is out there. Oh, and so are global warming, terrorism, corrupt governments, drought and famine.
