The 777 Meeting: Government Calls For Bloggers
Indonesia’s Information and Communication minister, M. Nuh, wishes to engage discussion with local bloggers on a gathering scheduled next Monday, 7th April 2008 at 7 PM local time, at the 7th floor meeting room, Communication and Information Department building, Jakarta. Issues to be intensively and transparently discussed would be surrounding the UU ITE implementation, also a bit of Idiot’s Guide to Bloggers and Hackers tutorials.

Saya mendapat amanah dari pak Son Kuswadi, sohib saya yang juga guru saya, si “tukang robot” yang sekarang jadi “tukang birokrat” di Depkominfo, bahwa pak Nuh (Menkominfo) ingin ketemu dan berdiskusi dengan teman-teman blogger plus komunitas maya Indonesia dimanapun berada. Saya pikir ini kegiatan menarik untuk memberikan informasi dan penjelasan kepada pak Nuh, bahwa blogging itu kegiatan positif, dilakukan juga oleh orang-orang terkenal seperti Randy Baseler (Vice President Boeing) dan Jonathan (Sun Microsystem). Bahkan beberapa peneliti knowledge management mengatakan bahwa blog adalah generasi terbaru dari knowledge management system. Blog jugalah yang membuat teori knowledge spiral alias SECI-nya Ikujiro Nonaka jadi terlihat terang benderang dan mudah diimplementasikan. Blog jugalah yang membuat proses sharing knowledge di IlmuKomputer.Com jadi lancar. Bagi saya sendiri, blog adalah alat ngajar, karir dan kehidupan saya. Hehehe jadi lupa mau nulis apa.
Jadi intinya, pak Nuh ngundang kita semua diskusi. Paling tidak beberapa agenda diskusi adalah klarifikasi masalah isu negatif blogger (dan hacker ), penyamaan persepsi implementasi UU ITE, dsb. Kalau ada usulan agenda lain silakan, saya tunggu di kolom komentar.

- Peserta: Blogger, hacker (baik negatif dan positif ) dan komunitas dedemit maya lain yang tertarik

Blogger itu hal positif, hacker juga hal positif. Nggak ada salahnya kok Blogger bercita-cita jadi hacker, karena hacker itu sebutan moral untuk orang-orang yang punya antusiasme dan militansi di suatu bidang. Harusnya selain ada hacker komputer, juga ada hacker robot (kayak pak Son itu), hacker teknologi IC, hacker teknologi penerbangan, hacker ilmu sosial, hacker pustakawan, dsb. Nah yang tukang ngerusak server orang, deface situs depkominfo atau nempelin gambar “tokoh” itu adalah cracker. Cracker bukan hacker, apalagi blogger. Blogger itu punya sifat yang terbuka alias tukang narsis, yang istilahnya “lagi minum kopi” atau “ngiler waktu tidur” saja ditulis dan fotonya dipajang …hehehe. Jadi kecil sekali kemungkinannya si blogger ini tiba-tiba jadi punya sifat tertutup dan suka sembunyikan wajah ala cracker. Nah saya coret-coret mengenai masalah ini di artikel meluruskan salah kaprah tentang hacker. Mohon kritikannya kalau ada yang salah dari tulisan saya

I don’t know whether this is just for Fastnet subscribers, because my friends who are also Fastnet users cannot open their own blogspot pages. I am very, very peeved off.

How about other ISPs? Eventhough YouTube is a Google company, it wasn’t supposed to block Blogspot. Here’s the list of blocked sites:
1. YouTube
2. MySpace
3. Metacafe
4. Multiply
5. Rapid-share
Crazy, eh. Even MySpace got blocked.
According to detikinet, YouTube is officially blocked starting today [Link]. Not sure about this, but I’ve heard some stuffs saying several ISPs block YouTube, and several others don’t. I’ll post updates on that later.
Punching gloves? I doubt it. Once bureaucracy enters the scene, everyone is suddenly nice and cheeky. It happens all the time.

It’s called: democracy. And we are the rakyat that they’re representing.
But yes, we do appreciate the concern. It’s a progress.
Damn. What’s MySpace got to do with this? I mean, people actually put their music samples and everything there, and even their portfolios, and now the ISPs are banning access to them? That’s preposterous!

my dad was a government employee. he must take pensiun dini since he refused to be involved in mega project with mega share in mega time. none of the child pay interest to become one.
remember the political campaign and the so many conflict between ministry and society. but how many politician really willing to listen, sit and share without prejudice, Marisa. jaman kampanya banyakan monologue, bukannya dialogue. kalo dialogue direncanain dulu. segitu banyaknya politisi yang berani kampanye didepan mahasiswa bisa diitung jari.
yes, it is something they should do. But yet it is still a mentality we should appreciate as well. udah susah cari orang di pemerintahan yang mau denger katah-kalo kata orang betawi.

Eventhough I’m not so sure issues on YouTube, free speech rights, or internet censorship would be these participants’ main concern. It isn’t in their agenda–in a literal sense. They’re more on that blogger and hacker issue and preferrably on RS, the telematics expert. Technology issues.
Let’s just appreciate it then. That’s the best we can do.

same here with me. looks like fastnet block blogspot since saturday 00.00 WIB. since that time I cannot access my blog, even the feeds [minus using third party web feeds].
but using proxy could resolve that :P although not all the widget and link could be seen/click-able.
posting from blogger[dot]com still access-able but for changing widget template/maintaining themes its kind of s*c*s [sorry about the word]
I think I’m going to the 777 but still confuse, go to bidakara first or straight to depkominfo? I don’t know anybody there… ergh…
