You can also search bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon, del.icio.us, digg, etc for pages recommended by others. Hope it can help you gather the infos you need on Darfur.

You can view the DVD on my sidebar, the Amazon wish list.

@ reinhard hutagaol

Thank you for your further elaboration. Selamat berjuang di Darfur!

@ mulia

Regardless any religious identification, isn't that exactly what our country expects from academias such as you are, mba mulia? At least later, in the future.

Thanks for linking my blog to your website,
FYI (also for caoimhin) : In Darfur (Darfur means 'people from FUR) it is not a religion communal clash, there are some separatist groups who want their independence (JAM, SLA), this insurgency because the government of Sudan (GOS) ignoring this Darfur region lack of development, and since oil founded five years ago, only few cents goes to this region.... GOS have a very much trouble to fight this insurgency especially in JABBEL MARRA (region the home of JAM) a mounted area w/ highest altitude 3000 m bts, GOS military only can do 'air raid' to this region... to solving this problem GOS hired Arab Militia called Jannaweed which very well known as 'devil in the horseback' but apparently make a chaos because the mass slaughtering to Darfur people. Main Tribe in Darfur is ZAGHAWA which are Moslem.... so, is not right the problem in Darfur is RELIGION problem.
Yes, the Conflict of religion happened in the eastern of Sudan, between north (Khortum) and south (Juba) region... the cause of conflict because people in the south (mostly Christian African) refused Sharia Law for Khortumrian people (mostly Arabian)...
Confused ? yes like I do, Sudan is a country which have 2 peacekeeping mission (UNMIS and UNAMID)

You're right when you said that most of Indonesian just knew the word Darfur and the famous phrase "save Darfur" without really knowing what's happening over there. I already knew what Darfur's all about but I have to tell you that this article of yours had given me much better understanding about it. I'm currently looking for the documentary you mentioned above, have any suggestions where to find it?

What a great blog you have here.

Yes, that would be our preliminary question: "What can we do?"
Our best effort right now, as part of the new media, is to make sure people receive enough access and resources, in order to get these international humanitarian issues within our grasp.
Contextually, it may be an educational, inspirational, artistic, or even an argumentative one. Just as long we get the news out.

@ Dyden Rinda

Not my voice, hehe. If it's my voice, you'll be listening to a woman singing in the shower.

Yes, news on Darfur have been scarce in Indonesia. Thanks for noticing!

@ Nick Donovan

Thank you for the information, we could use some more.
PS: Hope you've read my response on your email.

@ Anita

True, true.
Darfur can happen to any country for that matter.

@ Caoimhin

Thank you for the correction.
Actually I've done a validation check on the facts, assessing information from various media services, naming CNN and BBC; but I'll be sure to do a re-check on them. Thanks again.

You have written a great post on this terrible situation! One fact, that may be a mis-print though, is that in your third paragraph you say the Arab Muslims are fighting with the African Muslims. Actually, the Africans are mostly Christian or local religions, not Muslim, this of course complicates the issue!

I read somewhere that Darfur is pushed into the limelight due to lots of celebrities like Mr. Clooney and Mr. Bourne, I mean Mr. Damon, pay attention to what happen in the area. Other African countries should get the same attention.

Indonesia is currently on the UN Security Council - you can help persuade the Indonesian Government to work at the UN to arrest some of the suspected war criminals in Darfur by visiting this website - run by 50 NGOs from Africa, Europe, Middle East and US and Canada

It only takes ten seconds...

It is a big mess and made my insides curled up.

Hard to understand how incidents like this still happens in the world today with unions of nations such as UN, NATO and mammoth sized countries such as US, China.

I guess stronger pressures need to be put in place to curt the inhumane action. I genuinely wish there's something we (small people) can help in a way.
