The Tree Man from the Indian Boy
A dear friend of ours, Aayush Bhatnagar from New Bombay, India, just posted something on his blog. It’s about an Indonesian ‘tree man’ named Dede, a local native suffering from Human Papilloma Virus. A number of people have expressed their concern and sympathy –eventhough they were all seemed baffled that the man is grinning and looking happy. I’m quite surprised Aayush Bhatnagar can acquire this news though; I’ve checked on it, apparently the story has been dugg everywhere –in case you haven’t heard the term “dugg” before, it means the world is sharing and passing the story on.
Presently Dede is under treatment of Dr. Anthony Gaspari from USA.
Recently, there has been a very bizarre news report about a man who lives in a village in Indonesia. This man suffers from some skin disorder, whereby hegrows “bark like” warts all over his skin! This makes him look rather odd and scary ! He looks like a man who is slowly converting into some sort of a tree. As a matter of fact..his hands and legs resemble tree branches already! When asked about his condition, this is what he had to say:
“First it felt itchy and some warts appeared on my feet.I neglected it and the growths quickly covered all my body.”
His real name is Dede and he is a fisherman. This man was sacked from his job due to his condition. His condition is due to a virus called HPV ( Human Papilloma Virus). However, there is a ray of hope for this man, as it is believed by doctors thathis condition can be reversed by giving him doses of synthetic Vitamin-A.
I sometimes wonder why God is so harsh on such people. This poor man may have become a center of attraction for the medical fraternity all over the world, but his medical condition has rendered him useless.May God help him out of this terrible condition !

Update:
Dede has been examined and taken care of by Hasan Sadikin Hospital (Bandung, Indonesia) medical team. The patient which was first unveiled by the Discovery Channel, now has been receiving attentive attention from the government and the local media, a luxury he had never received before. Indonesia’s Minister of Health, Siti Fadilah Supari have acknowledged the blood testing conducted by the American medical researchers, even so she said that such action must be informed to the government since it requires the Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) procedures to be coordinated with Indonesia’s Ministry of Health.

and i agree what you said that we Indonesians look happy all the time at the BC forums… hahahaha ah hell you just ruined my lunch
thanks for mr. aayush bhatnagar too
God bless him, and hope the doctors are able to treat him at the earliest. I hope and pray that no one should have to suffer as he does.

Anytime!

Yes, but the government is a bit pissed off by it though. How ironic.
@ Funepets
We thank you for your dear prayers. Our local government have taken charge of the matter, thus I reckon that he’ll be fine and under careful care for the time being.
Hey, settle down god squad, jesus aint about to jump out of the burning bushes and help this dude, Doctors and Scientists are the ones we should be “praying” to
homish, what’s ur problem dude? these people r just trying to be nice ..
@ Homish & Za
Sometimes prayers can sound so superficial, yes? It sounds more like bragging our own self righteousness by taking pitiful notions on others’ misfortunes.
If that’s true, in that case, Dede (the so-called tree man), doctors, scientists, me, and both of you aren’t the ones to be prayed for.
Even so, I personally appreciate good intentions, whether it’s sincere or not, it isn’t up to my judgment. Sending out a message that a person is praying for another, is what it is all about.
I’m sure there’s a little room left in the world for such insignificant deed.
[...] to the minister, the action of Gaspari, a researcher for Maryland University, can be categorized as stealing Indonesia’s resources. [...]

Thanks for the link.
Dede’s on TV again just several minutes ago (Jelang Siang - Trans TV), he can write now eventhough there are still bark-like warts on his hands. The press conference suggests his condition is okay and recovering, so that’s good news.
The TV show didn’t mention Discovery Channel though, skipped right to the minister visit. It did mention that Dede was found on the 27th November 2007. I am not certain when exactly Dr. Anthony Gaspari found him, but one thing for sure, this blog post is published on November 22nd.
